This season Marni’s whimsical mixing of prints and costume jewelry reminded us of Carmen Miranda. Both exotic and sophisticated at once, Miranda was a fashion original who inspired generations to come. She made a total of fourteen Hollywood films between 1940 and 1953 and would perform on stage wearing her infamous platform sandals as well as her towering headdresses sporting everything from fruit to parasols.
